JAMMU, Dec 21: Save Animals Value Environment (SAVE), a NGO working for animal welfare, organised a vaccination and de-worming camp for street dogs in Reshamgarh colony area. In the first phase 27 dogs were vaccinated.
Rumpy Madan, Chairperson SAVE, said the NGO was receiving complaints about rabies infected street dogs and for this reason the vaccination drive was started and it will be carried out in many other areas of the Jammu. It is a step forward towards rabies free Jammu city, she added.
Rumpy said the drive also helped in making people aware about the animal rights especially street dogs, who she said are not treated fairly.
She stated that sterilization of dogs has been suspended on account of extreme cold weather conditions till January but vaccination drives will continue.
Dr Vikas Mangotra, Dr Amantaj and a team of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) participated in the vaccination drive.
