JAMMU, Jan 29: Sarvodaya International Trust (SIT) here today under the chairmanship of Justice Permod Kohli (former Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court) held its meeting to finalize its annual activity plan.
SIT is an international NGO working towards promoting moral ideals and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi in the country and abroad.
It conducts programmes with various segments of society.
Those who attended the meeting were Prof. G.M Bhat, senior vice president; Major General S.K Sharma, vice president; Prof. Renu Nanda, general secretary; Tsering Angchok, Ravinder Singh and Robin Gill.
A brief of activities undertaken by SIT was given in the start of the meeting and these activities included providing medicines and other daily use items to leprosy patients at Kusht Ashram Jammu, books distribution to around 200 students at Balgran etc.
A handout stated that SIT also conducted an international seminar on Gandhian Philosophy in collaboration with University of Jammu and Central University of Jammu besides organizing periodic interactions and seminars with college and university students.
Plan was finalized for the next year by SIT and it was decided to register the organization with Vidyanjali app.
Plans were also made to have periodic visits to the Vridh Ashram, distribute items of need and spend some quality time with senior citizens.
The immediate programme to be held will be with students of Dept of Education, University of Jammu on January 30, 2024 to commemorate the martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi.
