Sarpanchs extend gratitude to Governor, Cong Party

AKHNOOR, July 26: A deputation of Sarpanchs from Akhnoor called on  senior vice president of  Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) and  former Minister Sham Lal Sharma and extended gratitude to the Congress Party and also the State Governor for their role in stalling Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill recently moved by PDP-BJP Government in the Assembly.
During the meeting Sarpanchs expressed their happiness on return of  Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill by the Governor without approving the same. They expressed their gratitude and thanked Congress Party which has vociferously protested on passing of this bill in and outside Legislative Assembly and also presenting the memorandum to Governor against this Bill.
The Sarpanches termed this Amendment Bill as a murder of democracy if this same would have been passed. They said BJP,  so called champions of Jammu region remained mute spectators and helped the PDP to get this bill passed in the Assembly.
Sham Lal Sharma heard the Sarpanchs and assured them that Congress party will always fight against injustice to the common man both in and outside the Assembly.
While interacting with Sarpanchs Sham Lal said that the BJP had made number of promises to the Jammu people for their betterment during elections but betrayed them and failed to come up to the expectations of the common people of Jammu.
On the issue of  Transfer of  Property Bill, Sham Lal said that this Bill is also against the people of Jammu and demanded it’s immediate withdrawal. He said by approving the said bill the BJP-PDP Govt. has betrayed the people’s mandate because the said bill is very much against the interest of people of Jammu region.
Prominent among  those who were present included Subash Langer,  conveynor BCC Akhnoor, Babu Ran Bhagat  senior Congress leader, Rattan Chand, Krishan Lal Bhagat,
K D Sharma, Naresh Dutt,  Sarpanchs Kuldeep Singh, Shamsher Singh, Kuldeep Raj Sharma and Jagdish Raj.
