POONCH, Jan 3: The police has registered an FIR against a Sarpanch of village Qasba near Poonch on the charge of committing rape on a young woman of his village.
A police spokesman said that opening an account on the new year, Poonch police has registered an FIR No. 1/ 2014 under Section 376 RPC against Sarpanch Mohd Issac, son of Mohd Yousuf, resident of Qasba for committing rape on a local young woman. He said that the victim, of the same village has lodged an FIR alleging that Sarpanch committed rape on her. The police registered a case and started investigation. The Sarpanch was absconding.
Meanwhile, some supporters of Sarpanch from the same area held protest demonstration and also tried to block a road in Old Poonch area, demanding that FIR against Sarpanch be withdrawn. The police however, got the road cleared and used some force on the agitators.
