‘Sarovar’ at Gurdwara Chand Nagar opened for devotees

JAMMU, Apr 14:  A large ‘Sarovar’,  constructed on the pattern of  famous Golden Temple, at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, at Chand Nagar (Below Gumat) in Jammu was  made functional for the devotees in a grand function held on the occasion of  Basakhi and birth of  `Khalsa panth’ here today.
In presence of high priests, `Mukh Kar Sevaks’ and other `Sevadars’ including Baba Beera Ji, Baba Nirmal Singh, Baba Gurcharan Singh, Harbans Singh, Karnail Singh  besides members of DGPC Jammu  and  hundreds of devotees, the holy water from Golden Temple Sarovar, Patna Sahib and other top five holy places of  Sikhs in the country, was added to this Sarovar today amidst chanting of Gurvani and its `Shalokas’ by the learned priests and it was finally, declared opened for the devotees to take holy dip. After inaugural function, a large number of devotees took holy bath.
The Gurdwara was highly decorated by the Management Committee members and since early morning, a large number of devotees started arriving there from various parts of Jammu and its adjoining areas. They also offered special prayers. `Ragi Jathas’ from various parts of the country also arrived to participate on this rare occasion. Renowned Hazoori Ragi Jatha and Taddi Jathas also attended this function.  A grand `Langar’ was also arranged for the devotees.
The function was organised by District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu at Chand Nagar Gurdawara. Deviating from the past practice of celebrating this `Purab’ at Gurdwara Chatti Patshahi, Talab Tilloo Jammu, it is being made as one time exception to inaugurate the `Sarovar’ at Chand Nagar Gurdwara, a DGPC spokesman said.
