KISHTWAR, July 15: A Congress delegation led by senior party leader Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today met Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma, to raise pressing issues concerning the district. The delegation highlighted the hardships faced by residents in remote areas and urged transparency and efficiency in ongoing development works.
Saroori said Kishtwar is a geographically challenging district, where poor infrastructure, unemployment, and lack of services are causing immense suffering. He criticized companies exploiting local resources while neglecting social responsibilities, despite Kishtwar’s status as a hub of power generation.
The delegation raised key concerns including delays in MGNREGA wages and material supply, stalled projects like Kendriya Vidyalaya and Mughal Maidan Higher Secondary School, and vacancies in crucial administrative posts such as ACD and ADDC. They also noted the DDC’s lack of effective powers, impacting grassroots governance.
Saroori demanded road widening, drainage improvements and fair land compensation. He stressed the need for employment for MGNREGA job card holders and local youth in hydropower and infrastructure projects. He assured full cooperation with the administration.
DC Pankaj Kumar Sharma patiently heard all concerns and assured that genuine demands would be addressed promptly in the interest of public welfare.
