KISHTWAR, June 25: MLA Inderwal and vice-president, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), GM Saroori, has asked the State Government to include Kishtwar and Doda in its ambitious project of setting up more smart cities across Jammu and Kashmir.
“In view of twin districts of Chenab Valley region having unique geographical condition, its environmental concerns and scattered population, the State Government must also add the hilly and mountainous part of J&K State in the ambitious scheme,” Saroori said in a meeting here today.
Saroori said every year nearly 20 lakh people visits various shrines in Kishtwar and Doda, which include Ziarat Shah Sahib, Ziarat Farid-Ud-Din Sahib, Hazrat Asrar-Ud-Din Sahib, Chandi Mata Temple, Hatta Wali Mata, Sarthal Devi Temple, Athara Bhuja Devi Temple besides many tourist spots including Sinthan Top, Bangar, Chatroo, Mugalmaidan, Bharat, Marmat, Bhaderwah, Chinta Valley, Seoj Meadow, and Bhal Padri, in the twin districts apart from normal tourists attracted by the beauty of Bhaderwah, Bhalessa, Kishtwar and Doda.
Saroori said that Government must include Kishtwar and Doda in the scheme of setting of more smart cities as smart cities mission intends to promote adoption of smart solutions for efficient use of available assets, resources and infrastructure. A city should be equipped with basic infrastructure to give a decent quality of life, a clean and sustainable environment through application of some smart solutions.
He said that it will also assure water and electricity supply, sanitation and solid waste management, efficient urban mobility and public transport, robust IT connectivity, e-governance and citizen participation, safety and security of citizens.
