JAMMU, Dec 14: Vijay Saraf has been elected as Secretary of the Amar Singh Club while 10 others were declared elected as Managing Committee members.

The election for the 11- member committee was held today in the Club premises. The polling commenced at around 11.30 am and came to an end at 5 pm. A total 2657 votes were polled. The election process was held under the supervision of `independent persons’.
Vijay Saraf polled highest number of 2006 votes and defeated his two opponents, Ajay Anand and Dr Vikram Handa, who bagged 1430 and 874 votes, respectively.
Among the Managing Committee members, Sahil Mahajan bagged 1679 votes, Rajesh Langar 1667 votes, Ajay Anand -1430 votes, Tania Kukreja 1428 votes, Manish Gupta 1357 votes, Nitika Bhandari 1350 votes, Viplove Gupta 1268 votes, Manmohan Singh 1228 votes, Naresh Kumar Gupta (Tony) 1164 votes while Viraaj Malhotra secured 1161 votes.
It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister is the president while Divisional Commissioner Jammu, vice president of the Club as per its constitution. Five members will be nominated by the president to the Managing Committee. It is being reported that some controversial people, using their money power, were lobbying for their nomination through this channel.
