NEW DELHI, Nov 14: President of Muskan Foundation State Nodal Agency Centre (SNAC) J&K, Parveen Sangral met B.L Verma, MoS Social Justice and Empowerment and discussed transformative policy interventions for persons with disabilities across the region.
She urged the Minister to develop targeted policy frameworks and launch intensive awareness campaigns to ensure persons with disabilities maximize benefits from Government schemes.
A cornerstone of the discussion focussed improving the Nirmaya Health Insurance Scheme.
Sangral proposed doubling the reimbursement limit from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh to provide enhanced healthcare coverage for disabled beneficiaries.
She made a compelling case for increasing the monthly disability pension from Rs. 1,250 to Rs. 5,000 and highlighted that many disabled persons-particularly those who are bedridden or unable to work-lack livelihood opportunities and require adequate financial assistance to maintain dignity and meet basic necessities.
She also demanded the establishment of Special Skill Training Centers throughout J&K to provide vocational training and capacity building programmes.
Sangral reaffirmed Muskan Foundation’s commitment to partner with the Ministry and stakeholders to advance these initiatives.
The Minister assured that the recommendations will be carefully considered.
