JAMMU, Dec 7: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangharsh Samiti has decided to gherao the office of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board in Katra tomorrow (Monday) to intensify its movement.
This decision was taken at a joint meeting of the Sangharsh Samiti’s core group and allied organizations held, here today. The meeting was presided over by the convener of the Sangharsh Samiti, Colonel Sukhvir Singh Mankotia.
All members and representatives of the organizations present at the meeting unanimously supported the intensification of the movement and said that the agitation should continue until the decision to admit students from only one community to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence is reversed.
Addressing the meeting, Col Mankotia said that the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board management has not given any positive indication regarding their demands so far. Therefore, it is now necessary to gherao the Shrine Board’s office itself. He said that the Shrine Board, which runs on the offerings of Hindus from the country and the world, should have established and protected institutions imbued with Sanatan values, but the work is happening contrary to this.
Mankotia said that the Sangharsh Samiti considers the basis on which the Shrine Board’s medical institute admitted 45 students from only one community to be unfair. He said that those who have faith in Maa Vaishno Devi have the first right over the institution run by the offerings of Hindus.
Parshotam Dadhichi, president of Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha J&K said if the Shrine Board is not stopped from taking a wrong decision now, it will become a tradition, which is not good for society.
Apart from the members of the committee’s core group, Kuldeep Singh, Karan Singh Wazir from Transport Union, Neeraj Anand (president, Chamber of Traders Federation), Abhishek Gupta (Vishwa Hindu Parishad), Arun Chaudhary, Dev Raj Sharma, Jeevanand Sharma Subhash Jandial, RK Chhibber, Sanjay Gupta, Shilpi Verma, Preeti Chaudhary, Keshav and others were also present in the meeting.
