JAMMU, Dec 11: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangharsh Samiti has threatened to further intensify the agitation over admissions in SMVD Institute of Medical Excellence and warned that the ongoing movement can take any form.
Talking to media persons after a Core Group meeting at Geeta Bhawan, here today, Convenor of the Sangharsh Samiti, Col, Sukhvir Singh Mankotia said that more the Government, Shrine Board, or Lt Governor J&K UT delay action, the more difficult it will become for them to handle this agitation.
Col Mankotia claimed that several organizations from across the country are contacting the Samiti extending their support to this movement. “However, we do not want the fire of this movement to spread across the country and create an atmosphere of chaos,” he added.
He also alleged that some leaders have tried to give this issue a Hindu-Muslim colour, whereas “we have no such intention. Our fight is with the Shrine Board; this is a fight for our faith. Our clear belief is that the schools/colleges run by the Shrine Board should be operated only according to Sanatan traditions.” Click here to watch video
During the press conference, Sangharsh Samiti team member C.M. Seth raised strong questions about the silence of the Shrine Board. He said, “Why is the Shrine Board silent on this movement? Why does it not bring the truth before the people? As long as they remain silent, the conflict will escalate. It is their responsibility to admit their mistake if one has occurred and reverse the decision on MBBS admissions.”
“Statements have come from the CM and Deputy CM, but the Shrine Board Chairman, LG Sahib, should put forth his view and give us justice, otherwise this movement will gain more momentum,” he added.
On the occasion, Col Mankotia revealed that the Sangharsh Samiti has also formed a Youth Wing as they are most affected by the issue of MBBS admissions A Women’s Wing will also be constituted soon, he added.
Sanjay Gupta (General Secretary of Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha), Baldev Singh, Narayan Singh, Neeraj Anand, Rajan Singh Happy, Vikram Singh, Akshay , Shilpi Verma, and Akshi Billouria were also present on the occasion.
