JAMMU, Apr 2: As Kashmir’s iconic Tulip Garden in Srinagar-Asia’s largest-welcomes a surge of visitors, Jammu’s first tulip garden at Sanasar in Ramban district has also begun attracting tourists from across the country.
Though the official inauguration of the Sanasar Tulip Garden is yet to take place, it has already become a hub for tourists eager to experience its beauty. The garden, featuring approximately 1,50,000 tulip flowers in 25 different varieties and colours, is almost in full bloom and continues to captivate visitors with its vibrant hues and serene ambiance.
Tourists visiting the site have expressed their delight at discovering a tulip garden outside Kashmir. Rakesh Sinha, a visitor from Chennai, who came with his family, was mesmerized by the sight. “I never imagined seeing such a beautiful tulip garden here. We always associated tulip gardens with Kashmir, but this place is truly stunning. The weather adds to the charm,” he said.
Similarly, Shivam Thakur, a tourist from Himachal Pradesh, said he was surprised to find such a vibrant floral display in the region. “We had come for the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage and decided to explore nearby places. We had only heard about the tulip garden in Kashmir, but this colorful expanse has left us amazed. The variety of flowers is remarkable,” he said.
Assistant Floriculture Officer Arjun Singh Parihar confirmed the growing footfall of visitors to the Sanasar Tulip Garden. “The official inauguration is yet to take place, but tourists are already arriving in large numbers to witness the tulip bloom, which is expected to reach full bloom within a week. This is the second-largest tulip garden in Jammu and Kashmir and the largest in the Jammu province,” he said.
The Sanasar Tulip Garden is part of the Government’s broader effort to promote tourism in Jammu and diversify its attractions beyond pilgrimage sites. Known for its lush green landscapes, Sanasar is already a popular destination for adventure sports like paragliding and trekking. The addition of the tulip garden is expected to boost the region’s tourism potential further.
