Samprati brings Kalhan Koul to fore

JAMMU, Apr 21: Kashmiri Bhasha Evam Sanskriti Pratishthan  (Samprati) brought the emerging Kashmiri poet Kalhan Koul to the centre stage in a special programme  Ruubaruu held at K L Saigal Hall, here today. The program was presided over by the well known Kashmiri poet, Makhan Lal Kanwal and conducted by Dr Roshan Saraf.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr RL Bhat, President Samprati, said that besides bringing the food for spirit in the form of mushaayiras, Samprati endeavors to present to its members and the audience food for thought in the form of interactive programs. These programs are focused on a specific subject or a literary person. Ruubaruu was one such program, which had the emerging poet Kalhan Koul as its focus. Dr. Bhat said that another program in the pipeline is Kitaab which would discuss the themes of books released by Samprati.
Kalhan Koul, presented a battery of his recent creations, Gazals  and Nazams, on the occasion. The poems were received with high applause and appreciation. Dr, P N Trisal, Dr R L Bhat,  P N Shad, M K Matoo, Ravuuf Ahmad, R L Jawhar, Brij Hali and  A K Naaz took part in the discussion that followed. They spoke on the caliber of the emerging poet and lauded his innovative style, command on language and versatility of subject treated by him.
Pointing to the great promise in the poetry of Kalhan Koul, M L Kanwal in his presidential remarks said Mr Koul would be an important voice in Kashmiri poetry in the coming days.
The program was followed by mushaayira. A galaxy of poets, including lady poets, presented their creative pieces to the delight of the audience. Those who recited their poems included M L Kanwal, P N Shad, R L Jawhar, S N Veer, Vijay Wali, A K Naaz, Brij Hali, Pyaaree Bhan, Premi Romani, B N Abhilash, Raj Kumari Razdan,  A K Zaddu, Ratan Lal Tashna, Soomnath Sanam, Omkar Rana, A K Koul Beezaan, T N Vishvas, Kalhan Koul, Rajinder Aagosh, Maharaj Krishan Maharaj, Nimi Raina, Bimla Aima, K L Pardeesi, Ashok Gavhar, Kundan Paaras, Sujaataa Koul Sadna.
