JAMMU, Mar 3: As part of a two-day Folk and Traditional Music Festival, Samooh Theatre group here today organised a Dogri cultural programme at Government Higher Secondary School (HSS), Kah Pota.
The programme witnessed captivating performances by renowned folk artists including Raj Kumar and Party, Chajja and Dandaras by Bodh Raj and Party, Haran by Ashok Kumar and Party, Karak performances by Pidhu Ram Bhakhan and a lively Dogri folk dance presentation by Kushi and Anandika.
Tara Singh, senior lecturer, graced the occasion as chief guest while Mohd Saleem was guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Tara Singh appreciated the efforts of Samooh Theatre in reaching out to students in remote areas of Jammu through cultural initiatives.
Earlier, Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, Founder Samooh Theatre group and an eminent theatre director and playwright, highlighted the aims and objectives of organising such programmes in both rural and urban areas.
He emphasised the importance of preserving and revitalising traditional folk arts that are gradually fading from public memory.
The programme was conducted by Anita Chandpuri, general secretary Samooh Theatre, who also presented the vote of thanks.
The event was coordinated by Arun Sharma while Krishan Bala and Shaleen Mahajan managed back stage affairs.
