SAMBA, Feb 23: Samba Police has worked out a theft case registered at Police Station (PS), Vijaypur, arrested an accused person and recovered stolen item from his possession.
A police spokesperson said on Sunday, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Vijaypur by one person namely Satish Chander, son of Dewan Chand of W. No. 11 Vijaypur district Samba regarding the theft of one iron gate from Shamshan Ghat, Shiv Nagar Vijaypur by unknown person(s) in a Mahindra pickup vehicle during the evening hours of 22.02.2026.
He said acting over the complaint, a case FIR Number 31/2026 U/S 303(2) BNS was registered at Police Station, Vijaypur and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a team of Police Station (PS) Vijaypur after relentless efforts, apprehended one Mukesh Kumar, son of Hari Chand of Dhayansar Kartholi, tehsil Bari Brahmana, district, Samba and recovered the stolen iron gate from his possession. The vehicle Mahindra pickup bearing Registration Number, JK21K-0399 involved in the commission of crime was also recovered and seized by the police. Further investigation in the case is going on, he added.
