Samba police seizes 3 kgs of poppy straw, rescues 17 bovines

SAMBA, Nov 15: Acting against the drug menace and its propagators district police Samba arrested one drug peddler under the jurisdiction of Police Station, Samba and recovered three kgs of poppy straw from his possession.
Acting on a tip off, a police party of PS Samba headed by Inspector Chanchal Singh, SHO Samba under the supervision of Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Hqrs Samba and on the directives of Dr Koshal Sharma, SSP Samba during vehicle checking at Naka Mansar Morh, Samba intercepted one truck bearing registration number JK21B- 8747 on suspicious ground which was coming from Kashmir side via Mansar.
During checking of the vehicle, three kgs of poppy straw was recovered which was concealed under the driver seat. The accused has been identified as Kulbeer Singh, son of Harbail Singh of Chak Babral, Samba. The said drug peddler was arrested on spot and the contraband item was also seized. In this regard, a case FIR No. 297/2018 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Samba and further investigation started.
Meanwhile, Ghagwal police headed by Inspector, Rajeev Kumar, SHO Ghagwal and under the close supervision of Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Hqrs Samba, during surprise naka checking at NHW Tapyal signaled a truck bearing Registration No. JK02AC- 8569 to stop for checking which was coming from Kathua side.
During checking of the vehicle, 17 Bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were being transported illegally without any permission. The vehicle was seized on spot and all the bovines were rescued. In this regard, a case FIR No. 147/2018 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal.
It may be recalled that the vigorous drive against the bovine smugglers has been launched by District Police Samba on the directives of Dr. Koshal Sharma, SSP Samba.
