Samba police foils two bovine smuggling bids, rescues 13 animals

JAMMU, Jan 11:District police Samba today foiled two bovine smuggling attempts under the jurisdiction of Police Stations, Samba and Ghagwal by rescuing 13 bovines in two separate incidents.
A police party of PP Supwal headed by SI Javed Ahmed, I/C PP Supwal under the supervision of Inspector Chanchal Singh, SHO P/S Samba and Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Hqrs Samba, during vehicle checking at NHW Supwal, signalled a truck bearing Registration No. JK08A-7813 to stop, which was coming from Kathua side. During checking of the vehicle 11 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle. They were being transported illegally. All the cattle were rescued and the vehicle used for the transportation was also seized. In this regard, a case FIR No. 08/2019 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Samba and investigation started.
In another similar incident, a Police Party of P/S Ghagwal headed by Inspector, Rajeev Kumar, SHO P/S Ghagwal during vehicle checking Naka at NHW Tapyal intercepted one Mahindra bearing Regd. No. JK02BU-0387 which was coming from Kathua side. During the checking of the vehicle, two bovines were rescued and the bovine smuggler namely Hans Raj, S/o Gurdass Mal, R/o Ward No. 9 RS Pura, Jammu was arrested. The vehicle involved was also seized on the spot. In this regard a case FIR No. 02/2019 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started.
The entire operation was made on the directives of SSP, Samba, Dr Koshal Kumar.
