SAMBA, Apr 3: Tightening noose against the bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba police has foiled two major bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal and rescued 44 bovines from the clutches of bovine smugglers. The vehicles used for illegal transportation of bovines were also seized.
Police said an information was received at Police Station (PS) Ghagwal from reliable sources regarding smuggling of bovines in a truck container bearing Registration Number NL01N-0553 coming from Kathua side. Acting on information, a police team headed by SHO PS Ghagwal under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Samba and under the overall supervision of SSP Samba Virinder Manhas intercepted the truck at naka NHW Tapyal for its checking. During the checking, 26 bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally, police added.
Police said that all the bovines have been rescued and the truck was also seized.
A case FIR No. 48/2025 u/s 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started, police said.
Similarly in another bovine smuggling attempt foiled by police, a truck container without Registration Number was intercepted at naka NHW Tapyal and during its checking, 18 bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally. All the bovines have been rescued and the truck has also been seized, police said.
A case FIR No. 47/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
