SAMBA, May 15: Samba police has foiled two bovine smuggling attempts, arrested two bovine smugglers and rescued four bovines from their clutches.
The vehicles used in the illegal transportation of bovines were also seized.
Police said acting on reliable information regarding smuggling of bovines in a Mahindra Bolero load carrier bearing Registration Number JK11E-0545, a police team headed by Incharge Police Post (PP) Supwal of PS Samba intercepted the vehicle at Naka Supwal for its checking.
During the checking of the vehicle, two bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
Police said the bovine smuggler has been identified as Jasbir Singh, son of Angrez Singh of Jamola district Rajouri and he has been arrested.
A case FIR Number 136/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
In another bovine smuggling incident, a police team headed by Incharge PP, Supwal has intercepted an Auto Load Carrier bearing Registration Number, JK20C-7559 and rescued two bovines which were being transported illegally without any valid permission.
Police said the bovine smuggler was identified as Parvez Iqbal, son of Naseeb Mohd of Banna Chassana district Reasi and he has been arrested.
A case FIR No. 137/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
