Samba police foils 2 bovine smuggling attempts, rescues 24 animals

SAMBA, Aug 6: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba police has foiled two bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Stations (PSs) Bari Brahmana and Samba and rescued 24 bovines from the clutches of bovine smugglers.
Police said acting on information received from reliable sources a team of Police Station (PS), Bari Brahmana while performing vehicle checking duty intercepted a truck bearing Registration No. PB35AN-8766 at SIDCO Chowk, Bari Brahmana. During checking of the vehicle 19 bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally. The vehicle used in the illegal transportation of bovines has also been seized police said.
It said a case FIR No.110/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station, Bari Brahmana and investigation started.
Police said in another bovine smuggling incident, a police team of Police Post (PP) Mansar of PS Samba intercepted a Mahindra load carrier bearing Registration No. JK08P-0346 at Mansar Naka and rescued five bovines which were also being transported illegally.
A case FIR No. 206/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started, police said.
The operations were conducted under the overall supervision of SSP Samba Virinder Manhas.
