SAMBA, Jan 22: Samba police has achieved a major breakthrough by busting a gang involved in bovine theft, arresting three accused persons, recovering six stolen cattle and seizing three vehicles used in the commission of the crimes.
The police has worked out five cattle theft cases registered across different police stations in the district.
A spokesman said on January 19 a case FIR No. 19/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Samba regarding theft of two cows from Dhagore area tehsil and district Samba.
Police Station Samba, police team conducted series of raids and apprehended accused namely Mohd Mansha, son of Mohd Yousuf of Pouni Chak district Jammu and Mohd Riaz, son of Ali Mohd of Bambyala Ransoo, district Rajouri presently residing at Belicharana Jammu. On the disclosure of accused persons, two cattle were recovered from the forest area of Devak. Besides, one Alto Car, one Boleroand one more red colour Bolero Car was also recovered from their possession and were subsequently seized.
He said further investigation led to the recovery of two more stolen cows in cattle theft case registered at Police Station Vijaypur.
