Samba police arrests drug peddler

SAMBA, Jan 30: Continuing its drive against drug smugglers/peddlers, Samba police has arrested a drug peddler in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Vijaypur and recovered approximately 3.73 grams heroin-like substance (Chitta) from his possession.
A Police spokesman said a team of Police Station (PS) Vijaypur during special Naka at Rakh Barotain road near AIIMS residence complex Vijaypur, intercepted a pedestrian who was moving under suspicious circumstances. During frisking, approximately 3.73 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) was recovered from his possession, he said.
Spokesman said the drug peddler identified as Arshad Ahmed son of Mohammad. Hafiz of Samote, tehsil Surankote, district Poonch has been arrested and the contraband item has also been seized.
He said a case FIR No 21/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Vijaypur and investigation started.
The arrest was under the supervision of SSP Samba Virinder Manhas.
