SAMBA, Feb 11: Samba police apprehended a hardcore criminal-cum-drug peddler in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ramgarh and recovered a pistol along with five live cartridges and approximately 20.23 grams of heroin (Chitta) from his possession.
A spokesman of the police said acting on information received from reliable sources, a team of Police Station (PS) Ramgarh laid a special naka on Rajpura-Jattan road near water tank and intercepted a pedestrian under suspicious circumstances who was coming from village Khour side and moving towards Swankha. During frisking, one pistol along with five live cartridges and approximately 20.23 grams of heroin- (Chitta) were recovered from his possession.
The hardcore criminal has been identified as Ranju Choudhary, son of Kuldeep Singh of Kathar tehsil, Arnia district Jammu. He has been arrested by the police on the spot. The police has seized one pistol along with 05 live cartridges and contraband item from his possession.
A case FIR No. 12/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act and 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at PS Ramgarh and investigation started.
The entire operation was carried out by police team headed by SHO PS Ramgarh under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur and under the overall supervision of SSP Samba Virinder Manhas.
The accused is a habitual hardcore criminal and is involved in multiple cases including attempt to murder, assault on public servant, snatching and other heinous cases under the Arms Act registered at different Police Stations of district Samba and district Jammu, spokesman said.
The details of the cases registered against the accused included FIR Number 11/2020 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act, FIR No. 19/2022 U/S 307/353/382/34 IPC, FIR No. 29/2023 U/S 307/452/ 323/504/34. IPC,
FIR No.74/2024 U/S 307/ 351(3) BNS all registered in PS Ramgarh.
Besides, FIR No. 10/2023 U/S 4/25 Arms Act, 34 IPC and FIR No. 61/2023U/S 341/323/382/ 427/34 IPC, 4/25 Arms Act and FIR No. 50/2020 U/S 341/323, 506/34 IPC, 4/25 Arms Act were registered PS Arnia.
One FIR under No. 99/2024 U/S 109/ 115(2)/324(4)/ 191(2) BNS 3/4/25 Arms Act has been registered at PS Kahana Chak, Jammu.
