SAMBA, Dec 12: Continuing its drive against vagrants wandering near Chitta hotspot, Samba police has detained six vagrants under preventive sections of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Vijaypur and sent them to district Jail Kathua.
A police spokesman said a team of Police Station (PS) Vijaypur during special operation around infamous Chitta hotspot, Rakh Barotian Vijaypur has detained six vagrants who were wandering suspiciously in the area.
The detained vagrants have been identified as Mohd Younis son of Abdul Rehman of Ganda tehsil, R.S. Pura district Jammu, Yasir Ahmed son of Mohd Farooq of Mentra tehsil and district Ramban, Mohd Saleem, son of Gani of Ganda tehsil, R.S. Pura district Jammu, Mohd Barru son of Nazir of Thana, Bhatyari district Jammu, Paras Sharma, son of Suresh Kumar of Billawar district Kathua and Rahul Kumar, son of Dharam Pal residing near Balbharti School, Samba. This move aims to curb drug-related offenses in the area, spokesman said.
He said Samba police has reiterated its commitment to eliminate the drug menace from the society and assured that stringent action will continue against those involved in drug peddling and drug abuse. The police asked the general public to remain vigilant and support Police in its efforts to eradicate the drug menace from the society.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SSP Samba Virinder Manhas.
