Seizes 5 vehicles for illegal mining

SAMBA, Dec 06: Continuing its drive against drug smugglers and peddlers, Samba police has apprehended two drug peddlers in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Vijaypur and recovered approximately 8.85 grams heroin from their possession.
Police said a team of Police Station (PS) Vijaypur during naka checking near Shiv temple Rakh Barotian Vijaypur, intercepted a motorcycle bearing Registration Number JK02DR-0334 for checking. During checking, approximately 8.85 grams heroin was recovered from the possession motorcyclist and pillion rider.
The drug peddlers identified as Vishal Kumar, son of Daleep Kumar of Gandhu Choni, Residency Road tehsil and district Jammu and one more accused (juvenile) have been apprehended and the contraband item has been seized. The motorcycle used in the offence has also been seized by the police in the instant case.
A case FIR No 137/2025 U/S 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Vijaypur and investigation started.
Meanwhile continuing its drive against illegal mining, Samba police has seized five vehicles including three dumpers in the jurisdiction of Police Stations (PS) Samba and Purmandal which were being used for illegal transportation/mining of the construction material.
Police said its teams headed by SHO PS Purmandal and in charges of Police Posts (PP) Mansar, Supwal and Goran of PS Samba while performing patrolling duty in their jurisdictional areas, have seized three dumpers bearing Registration Numbers JK14F-8303, JK21K-6948, JK21K-9245, a tractor trolley bearing Registration Number JK21L-0484 and a tractor trolley without Number which were being used for illegal transportation/mining of the construction material in the area.
All the vehicles have been seized by Samba Police and handed over to the Geology & Mining Department, Samba for further legal action, police said.
