KATHUA, Apr 10: Saksham district Kathua today organized an impressive programme at Dyalachak, near here focusing on empowerment of Divyang persons and functioning of Divyang Sewa Kendra.and Rozgar Aayam.
The programme was held under the chairmanship of O.D. Attri, vice president, Saksham Jammu & Kashmir. Vijay Kumar Sharma, MLA Hiranagar, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Surinder Mohan Sharma, ADDC Kathua, was the guest of honour. The function was presided over by Phulail Singh, SDM Hiranagar.
More than 1000 participants, including men, women, and Divyang persons, attended the event, making it a grand success.
Swami Vishwanathan, Sangathan Mantri, Saksham North India, acted as the chief spokesperson and highlighted the ongoing activities and mission of Saksham. Addressing the gathering, O.D. Attri emphasized that Saksham teams are actively conducting surveys to identify left-out Divyang persons and ensure their inclusion in various Centrally sponsored schemes, including pensions, UDID cards, Aadhaar cards, ration cards, and railway concession certificates.
Sunil Singh, general secretary (Prant), elaborated on the role of Divyang Sewa Kendras and the Rojgar Aayam initiative. Dr. B.D. Sharma spoke on Divyang empowerment, while Sardari Singh, joint secretary (J&K Prant), also addressed the gathering.
A total of six stalls were set up by different departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, and GMC Kathua. Teams of doctors (Orthopaedic, ENT, Eye Specialists, and Physicians) provided free check-ups to the attendees. Doctors from the Ayush Department and one NGO also participated by showcasing their schemes.
On this occasion, plants were distributed among the public under the slogan “Darakhat Lagao, Desh Bachao.”
Recognizing his dedicated work, Vaishno Datt Sethi, former general secretary, was promoted as the new district president, Saksham Kathua, and Ved Parkash was appointed as general secretary by Swami Vishwanathan.
Among others present were Prof. Daya Vikas, Shuvkarni (Mahila Pramukh), Master Manohar Lal, Mohinder Singh, Prempal Singh, Dr. B.D. Sharma, Romesh Bhou, Ravi Singh Bhou, Manoj Kumar, Dr. Pallavi, Bhag Singh, D.C. Bhatti, Pawan Kumar, O.N. Choudhary, Rimpy Lambad, Bhola Ram, Kamal Sharma, Sanjiv Sharma and Mohan Nehra.
