SRINAGAR, Aug 26: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo today conducted an extensive tour of Eidgah constituency of Srinagar and took stock of various ongoing development works besides inspecting health and education institutions across the Constituency.
During her visit, the Minister visited Hamidi Kashmiri Memorial, Government Degree College Eidgah and took stock of academic activities at the institute. She also inspected the progress of ongoing works on the college building.
On the occasion, the Minister directed the officers of executing agency to expedite the pace of ongoing works so that the building can be dedicated for public use. She also directed the officers of Revenue Department for early demarcation of college premises so that the boundary wall can be constructed at the earliest.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, the Minister highlighted that the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is giving prime importance to health and education sectors as they form the core of any developed society. She reaffirmed the commitment of Government to people-centric governance, highlighting that the current dispensation is of the people and for the people and remains committed to fulfil all the aspirations of the public.
Later, the Minister also visited Government Boys Middle School Noorbagh, Mini Maternity Centre Noorbagh, Urban Public Health Centre (UPHC) Palpora and Government Boys High School Takanwaripora.
At BMS Noorbagh, the Minister held detailed inspection of school premises taking stock of teaching facilities, classroom conditions, and availability of essential resources. She also interacted with the faculty and students. She called upon the teaching community to bridge infrastructure gaps and improve learning environments for children in the school.
Later, while visiting Mini Maternity Centre Noorbagh, the Minister took detailed assessment of medical facilities available at the hospital. She interacted with the medical staff of the centre and took appraisal about the facilities, staff strength and availability of medicines at the health institution. She stressed on the timely upgradation of facilities at the health centre so that people of the constituency have access to quality medical services without being forced to travel long distances.
At Government Boys High School Takanwaripora, the Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to bringing more reforms in health and education sectors to address the needs of the local population. She highlighted that in recent months the Government has upgraded medical infrastructure across the length and breadth of Jammu and Kashmir.
