JAMMU, Mar 22: As Sainik Welfare Department is going to celebrate ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ (Golden Jubilee) of India’s historic victory in 1971 war, cooperation has been solicited from NGOs and civil society for welfare of veterans and Veer Naris.
Director Sainik Welfare Department, J&K held a meeting with a number of NGOs and prominent members of the civil society at Ambphalla Jammu to solicit their participation for the welfare of the Ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their dependents.
Brig Gurmeet Singh Shan, urged the participants to focus on veterans and Veer Naris of 1971 war as the Department is celebrating 50 years of the historic victory in the war. He stressed on the need for joint efforts by the department and the civil society for fruitful results.
The members then proceeded to discuss the modalities for further course of action to be adopted in future.
Brig Harcharan Singh, Incharge of National Corruption Control and Human Welfare Organization (J&K), thanked the Sainik Welfare Deptt for getting various NGOs on a combined platform and assured all help for the welfare of ESM and Veer Naris.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Home for Aged and Infirm, S S Jain Sabha, Savitri Devi Jagiri Lal Charity Trust, Jain Mahila Mandal, Sikhs 4 All, Aggarwal Sabha Jammu, Inner Wheel Club Jammu, Rotary Club Elite Jammu and youth volunteers of Jammu University.
