Sagar, Javaid visit residences of slain Panch, Sarpanch

SRINAGAR, Sept 26: Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Mohammad Sagar accompanied by the Minister of State for Roads and Buildings, Javaid Ahmed Dar today visited the residences of the Panchayati Raj representative, who were recently killed by some unidentified persons at Pattan and Nowgam, Sopore in Baramulla district.
While interacting with the families, the Ministers assured them that the Government would provide every necessary assistance to them and they would take up the matter of providing a job to the deceased families with the Chief Minister at an earliest. He said that the Government would also see to it that the persons involved in these heinous crimes are brought to book.
While interacting with the people there, the Ministers said that these types of dastardly acts are crimes against humanity and people from all sections of society should condemn these besides, working unitedly to defeat the elements who are trying to disrupt the peace and disturb the developmental activities initiated by the Government.
Mr. Sagar said that the Government by holding elections to the Panchayati Raj Institutions and ensuring the proper empowerment of the same had ensured decentralization of powers by involving people at gross root levels in implementation of various welfare programmes.
“Certain forces are trying to sabotage the same and in a way they are acting against the interests of the people of the State and we should collectively defeat the nefarious designs of these forces who are acting against the interests of State and humanity”, the Minister added.
He later convened a meeting to address the situations arisen due to the recent guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Petroleum regarding the distribution of LPG in the State. Minister of State for CA&PD, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Director CA&PD, Joint Director CA&PD, Representatives of various oil companies distributing LPG which included OIC, HP, BP, Retail distributors and various representatives from different areas of the city were also present in the meeting.
Mr. Sagar impressed upon the officers to ensure that the workable mechanism is put in place so that the consumers do not face any inconvenience and get hassle free LPG supply. He said that the deadline for registering with various oil companies should also be increased, so that more and more consumers can avail the facility of registration and in this regard necessary measures should be taken with the Union Ministry of Petroleum.
