JAMMU, Mar 29: Safran Cricket Club (SCC) trounced Jhelum Cricket Club (JCC) by 44 runs and won the KC KPL Veteran Cup, here today.
Batting first after winning the toss, SCC led by Vicky Raina scored 173 runs by losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Vimarsh Kaw played a splendid inning of 84 runs off 54 balls, while Vicky Raina scored 55 runs in 31 balls. Rakesh Koul and Vinod chipped in 21 and 8 runs respectively.
From JCC side, Susheetal Dhar scalped 3 wickets, while Decker and Sanjay took 1 wicket each.
In reply, JCC failed to chase the target and scored 141 runs by losing 8 wickets in 20 overs thus lost the match by 44 runs. Skipper Rockey made 41 runs while Susheetal Dhar and Rajender made 28 and 15 runs respectively.
From SCC side, Vimarsh took 2 wickets, while Vicky Raina, Rakesh Koul, Surender and Vinod scalped one wicket apiece.
Vimarsh Kaw of SCC was adjudged as Man of the Match for his all round performance and was also awarded with Best Batsman award. Man of the Series award was given to Vicky Koul, while Best Bowler award was presented to Rakesh Koul.
On the valedictory function, Dr Suresh Saraf was the chief guest, who presented the trophies to the winner and runner-up teams viz players in presence of President Safran Cricket Club Sarthak Khoda, Manager Ajay Peshin and others.
