JAMMU, Mar 9: Beheaded and limbless body of a sadhu was recovered today from river Tawi, falling under the jurisdiction of Nowabad police station.
Acting swifty, police have seized a weapon of offence from the banks of Tawi, which had been used to kill the Sadhu, SSP Jammu Atul Goel said.
Police said the killing was the result of inter-group rivalry between the Sadhus as the victim was also an accused in NDPS Act and used to sell charas.
Police said the murder case was likely to be worked out soon.
As per police sources, a beheaded body of a sadhu was recovered from the bank of river Tawi here today. The body parts including arms and legs were also chopped off and they were found some distance apart from the body.
Some passerby noticed the beheaded and limbless body floating in the river Tawi and they informed the police.
On getting information, police team from Nowabad police station rushed to the spot and took the beheaded body into their possession.
After collecting the chopped parts of the body, it was shifted to mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for identification.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Nowabad police station and investigation started.
