KATHUA, May 18: National Conference (NC) additional general secretary Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today cautioned against politicizing the valiant efforts of the Indian Armed Forces in Operation Sindoor, describing it as a victory for the entire nation rather than any particular political faction.
Addressing a public meeting at Sanan Ghat in Dhar Mahanpur, Basohli, organized by party functionaries Madan Lal and Raja Rafiq, Sadhotra said, “The valor of our tri-services embodies India’s indomitable spirit. This is not a partisan win but a collective triumph of all Indians who stood firm against the aggression of a rogue nation.” He criticized any attempt to exploit military success for political mileage, calling such moves divisive and demoralizing.
The senior NC leader praised the unity displayed by citizens across religious, regional, and caste lines, which, he said, amplified the strength of India’s response. “The enemy is not only rattled by our military might but also by the unbreakable spirit of our people,” he remarked.
Expressing concern for those affected by cross-border shelling, Sadhotra extended solidarity and urged the Government to expedite relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of damaged homes. He also addressed local civic issues, promising to take up the matter of inadequate staff and limited arts subjects at the local higher secondary school with the education authorities. He opposed the proposed relocation of the Primary Health Centre, advocating instead for its expansion.
Sadhotra reassured the gathering that the National Conference, under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, remains committed to resolving public grievances and preserving the dignity of national institutions. He urged people to uphold India’s ethos of unity in diversity.
Several local leaders, including Madan Lal (ex-sarpanch) and Pawan Singh (ex-naib sarpanch), joined the NC during the event, which was also attended by party officials from Jammu and Kathua districts.
