Sadhotra visits shelling victims in GMC Rajouri

RAJOURI, May 19: National Conference (NC) additional general secretary and former Minister, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, visited the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri to meet victims of cross-border shelling from Poonch, Mendhar and Nowshera.
The visit, undertaken on the directions of NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister and party vice president Omar Abdullah, was aimed at expressing solidarity with the injured and their families.
Sadhotra termed the border residents “frontline defence of the nation” who have consistently stood firm in the face of repeated provocations and shelling from across the border. “These brave men, women, and children have endured trauma and tragedy, yet continue to defend the nation’s dignity with unmatched determination,” he said, adding that the entire country, especially the people of Jammu and Kashmir, stand in solidarity with them.
He took stock of the medical facilities at GMC Rajouri, interacted with patients and their attendants, and was briefed by doctors on the condition of the injured. He assured families that their concerns would be taken up with the concerned authorities to ensure prompt redressal and proper care.
Later, Sadhotra visited Thandi Kassi and Dhangri to assess damage caused by recent shelling. In Dhangri, he met the family of a mother and son seriously injured and undergoing treatment in Amritsar. Highlighting their inability to access benefits under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, he assured that the issue would be raised directly with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for appropriate support.
Sadhotra also extended condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the shelling and reiterated the Government’s commitment to the welfare of border residents under the Omar Abdullah-led administration.
He was accompanied by several party leaders including DDC Chairman Nasib Liaqat, MLA Thannamandi Muzaffar Khan, district president Rajouri Shafayat Khan, provincial secretaries Ayoub Malik and Shafqat Mir, Nirman Singh, Yashwardan Singh, Chander Mohan Sharma, Naresh Bittu, Abdul Gani Teli, Mohd Aslam Khan, Ashwani Charak, Parvinder Singh, Rajesh Bakshi, Veer Ji Salathia, Vishu Samyal, Sandeep Singh Manhas, Jitender Singh Lucky and Gurmeet Singh.
