Sadhotra seeks comprehensive flood mitigation measures in Jammu

JAMMU, Sept 4: National Conference (NC) additional general secretary and former Minister, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, has called for urgent and comprehensive flood mitigation measures to safeguard public health and restore normalcy in the Jammu region following recent flash floods.
During his visit to flood-affected villages of Marh Assembly Constituency-including Sangrampur, Patiala Chak, Dhaterial, Marh, Karloop, Rathoa, Taru Chak, Kukerian, Kothe, Gohmanasan, Bhagatpur Gujar Basti and Sohagani, Sadhotra interacted with affected families and highlighted the grave threat of waterborne and vector-borne diseases in the aftermath of the calamity.
He urged the administration to ensure safe drinking water, uninterrupted utility services and adequate health cover on priority, stressing that health authorities must remain alert to prevent any disease outbreak.
The NC leader emphasized that relief efforts should not be confined to restoring basic services but also address the loss of household goods, bedding and clothes, which directly impact the dignity of families, particularly those from weaker economic sections. He pressed for special assistance to help such families rebuild their lives.
Reaffirming the National Conference’s commitment to stand by the people in distress, Sadhotra said party workers are proactively coordinating with the administration to ensure relief reaches every affected family. He stressed the need for a long-term mitigation and resilience plan suited to the region’s topography to minimize the impact of future disasters.
