THANAMANDI, June 28: Terming ensuing Assembly elections as biggest test for National Conference cadre, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana and Minister for Planning Ajay Sadhotra on Saturday said history will repeat itself with Sher-e-Kashmir’s grand movement triumphing at the hustings.
“National Conference has known how to overcome challenges and steer to victory braving all odds”, Mr Rana said while addressing party workers at Thanamandi this evening.
He urged the cadre to close their ranks for fighting the adversaries, who have joined hands, despite apparent divergence in their ideologies, only to weaken National Conference that has put-forth public interest above everything. “Power has never been our motto, it is dignified life for the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, which has been the cherished agenda of National Conference”, he added.
“For achieving quality life for the people, Omar led Government embarked on massive development agenda during the past five and half years, took several steps to empower people politically and economically besides initiating measures to fulfill the demands of employees and unemployed”, he said while referring to the implementation of 6th Pay Commission Report and enhancement of retirement age of employees and upper age cap for those seeking employment.
Provincial President cautioned the people against sinister propaganda being unleashed by PDP and BJP, saying their agenda is only to hoodwink public opinion for baking their political loaves. “Apart from beating its trumpet, PDP has done nothing for the people of Jammu and Kashmir when it ruled the State”, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Planning Ajay Kumar Sadhotra mocked at BJP’s ‘Ache Din’ rhetoric and said the tempo of its loud speak fell flat within a month when the rail fares were enhanced.
He assailed BJP’s populist slogans and said they have to keep commitments made to the people or else face their wrath in full measure. “Emotive sloganeering leaves lessons for immature politicians who believe in showing false dreams to the people to grab power”, he said and referred to similar rhetoric being orchestrated by PDP, which he described as extension of the saffron brigade in the State. He cautioned people against the gimmicks of these parties, saying their main objective has been to get glued to power by hook or crook.
Giving account of achievements registered by the Omar led Government, Mr Sadhotra said while discernible progress has been registered in infrastructural development in all the sectors, the administration has been made responsive and responsible by introducing revolutionary legislations like Right to Information and Public Services Guarantee Acts. “Omar Abdullah represents the urges and aspirations of common man”, he asserted.
Mr Rana and Mr Sadhotra urged the party workers to fan out in their jurisdictions and apprise the people about revolutionary steps taken by National Conference led Government for bringing political stability, restoring peace and undertaking development.
Those present at the rally included District NC President Rajouri, Bashir Ahmed Wani, former parliamentarian Choudhry Talib Hussain and Mirza Abdul Rasheed, Mohammed Aslam Khan, Mushtaq Shawl, Mirza Ashraf, Gafoor Dar, Surinder Singh Bunty, Shamim Mughal, Abdul Qadir, Sharafat Choudhry, Sayed Jat and others.
