MENDHAR, Nov 13: A rusted mortar shell was recovered from a forward area close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Thursday.
According to reports, some locals spotted the suspicious shell lying in an open field at Balakote in the Mendhar sector and immediately informed the security agencies.
Soon after, a bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot and safely defused the explosive device, preventing any untoward incident. Officials said the shell appeared to be an old remnant of cross-border firing in the area.
