Russian presidential envoy Dmitriev says Trump promoting real solution to Ukraine conflict

MOSCOW, Aug 18: Praising the American efforts at establishing total peace, Russian presidential envoy for investment and cooperation Kirill Dmitriev, has said that US President Donald Trump is promoting a real solution to the Ukrainian conflict.
“Trump and his team are pushing for a real solution. Let problem-solving and peace prevail during the Big Day,” said the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund X, referring to Trump’s social media post, in which the president called Monday’s scheduled talks with European leaders a “big day.”
In a follow-up post, Dmitriev shared a screenshot of Trump’s call for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to let go of his aspirations for joining the NATO in order to bring an end to the conflict closer.
Moscow and Washington held a two hour and forty five minute presidential discussion in Alaska on Friday, with each side having its own delegation of high-level officials.
The Russian side included Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, and presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, while the US team included Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, and special envoy Steve Witkoff.
Witkoff had expressed great optimism over the end results of the meeting, terming it an ‘epic success’ yesterday.
“I had six separate sessions with President Putin before this, and I thought that we had some measure of success, but this was epic. What we achieved (at the Alaska summit), that’s just a flat-out fact.
“And so that’s what I think we ought to be focusing on. What the end result is. I think that we are a whole lot closer to eliminating death on the battlefield in Ukraine and Russia,” Witkoff told Fox News. (UNI)
