Russian presidential aide says Kremlin’s war with Ukraine is actually a war with NATO

MOSCOW, Sep 15: Russian Presidential aide Dmitry Peskov has accused the NATO of being the de-facto leader of the war in Ukraine, stating that Moscow’s war with the Kyiv regime, is in reality a war against the multination military bloc, which is using the country as its proxy, reports Russian state media TASS.
The Presidential Spokesman made his remarks on Monday, in response to a recent statement by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski that NATO was not at war with Russia. “NATO is at war with Russia,” Peskov said at a news briefing. “It’s evident, and it doesn’t need any additional confirmation.”
According to him, “NATO is de facto taking part in this war” by providing direct and indirect support to the Kyiv regime.
This comes amid the Kremlin’s escalating hostilities with Warsaw, after multiple Russian drones entered Polish airspace last Tuesday.
While they were noted to be unarmed, with Moscow calling the firing a ‘misunderstanding’, NATO refuted the excuse and triggered a Quick Reaction Alert, with fighter crafts taking off from allied nations such as Germany and the Netherlands.
Additionally, the body has now invoked Article 4 of the treaty, which will see all member states assess the situation and engage in joint consultations before determining further action.
Amid the growing security threats, Poland – which has increasingly militarised its border – has stationed NATO troops on its soil, with President Karol Narowcki signing the order, a part of its Eastern Sentry operation.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte had also said on Friday that the alliance was launching the Eastern Sentry operation, a move aimed at strengthening the defence of the eastern flank after the controversial incident.
He further accused the Kyiv regime of being non-serious about any attempts to reach peace, stating the “process is being artificially slowed down; no one wants to delve into the essence of the conflict.”
So far, there has been no success in reaching a trilateral summit between Russia, Ukraine and the US, Peskov said, adding that the Anchorage summit will be useless if it is held in an unprepared manner.
The summit on Ukraine should be well prepared, but Kyiv and Europe are not ready to conduct this preparation, Peskov added.
