Russian govt extends state program on space development until 2036

MOSCOW, Feb 10 : The Russian government said on Monday it had extended a state program on space development until 2036 due to the need to synchronize it with the national space project being developed under instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“[Prime Minister] Mikhail Mishustin has signed an order to extend the period of implementation of the ‘Space Activities of Russia’ state program for another six years, until 2036,” the government said on Telegram.
The main goal of the program is to ensure Russia’s guaranteed access and the necessary presence in space in the interests of science and the socio-economic sphere.
“The extension of the program is connected with the need to synchronize the timing of its implementation with the timing of the new national project for the development of Russia’s space activities for the period up to 2030 and for the future up to 2036, which is being developed on the instructions of the president,” the government said.
Key long-term initiatives of the national project have been almost outlined and include events that promote the peaceful exploration and use of outer space, as well as projects related to the construction of the necessary modern infrastructure and the establishment of internal industrial cooperation for the large-scale production of advanced technologies, the government said.
The government expects private companies to also take part in the project, Mishustin said.
