JAMMU, Oct 3: The Swami Vivekananda Vidyarthi Shakha of Jammu University celebrated the 100th Foundation Day of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the university premises.
After the ceremony, student volunteers conducted a Path Sanchalan (disciplined march) within the campus. This became the first-ever such march held in the history of Jammu and Kashmir within an educational institution (university).
On this occasion, a total of 113 Swayamsevaks – including students, research scholars, teaching faculty, and non-teaching staff – were present in full uniform. Their disciplined and alert presence created a special attraction in the ceremony. In addition, 96 guests comprising students, research scholars, teaching and non-teaching staff, and residents of staff quarters also actively participated in the program. On the occasion, Shastra-pujan was also performed.
The chief speaker of the program was Mukesh Kumar, Prant Pracharak, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh. In his address, he emphasized the need to awaken the spirit of nationalism and patriotism among youth and every citizen of society. He said that India had suffered cultural trauma and slavery for nearly a thousand years due to foreign invasions, particularly under Mughal and British rule. This long period deeply impacted the cultural consciousness of Indian society and the only way forward is the reconstruction of nationalist awareness and the restoration of cultural pride, he added.
The chief guest of the program was Prof B S Sahay, Director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu. In his address, he recalled his association with the RSS and highlighted how the Sangh has significantly contributed to nation-building and in instilling patriotism among the youth.
On this occasion, Sardar Jasveer Singh was present as a distinguished guest. The ceremony concluded with the Path Sanchalan of the Swayamsevaks inside the university campus. The disciplined march in full uniform passing through the campus presented an inspiring sight for everyone present.
