JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Mar 19: There was no let up in fresh surge in COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir with 152 testing positive today including 121 in Kashmir and 31 in Jammu while a woman from RS Pura succumbed to the virus.
A 59-year-old woman from RS Pura died of Coronavirus in IVY Hospital Amritsar taking death toll in Jammu division to 732 and Jammu district to 379.
Casualties in other districts include 64 Doda, 57 Udhampur, 55 Rajouri, 53 Kathua, 41 Samba, 24 Poonch, 22 Kishtwar, 21 Ramban and 16 in Reasi district.
Thirty one persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu region, 20 of them in Jammu district, four Rajouri, three Ramban and two each in Doda and Kathua districts. No fresh cases were reported in five districts.
Six persons recovered from the virus today including five in Jammu district and one in Samba.
Jammu region now has 52323 Corona cases. Among them, 268 are active positives while 51323 have recovered from the virus and there have been 732 casualties.
Meanwhile, the spike in the COVID-19 cases continues in Kashmir with 121 testing positive for the infection. With fresh cases, the number of active cases has crossed 1150 when it was 500 last week.
Those who tested positive for COVID-19 include 69 from Srinagar, 15 Baramulla, 15 Budgam, 5 Pulwama, 6 Kupwara, 2 Anantnag, 1 Bandipora, 3 Ganderbal, 1 Kulgam and 4 from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division reached 75,926 including 73,795 recoveries and 1,247 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,152 including 884 from Kashmir division.
With 72 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 125,118, which is 97.55 percent of the total cases.
Meanwhile, five persons today tested positive for COVID-19 in Leh district of the UT of Ladakh.
The UT now has 53 active positive cases.
