Srinagar, Oct 28: Government today informed the Legislative Assembly that it has collected Rs 31 crore in job test fees from applicants and has no proposal to abolish the charges.
In a written reply to a question raised by Peoples Conference MLA Sajad Gani Lone, the Minister in charge of the General Administration Department (GAD) said Rs 31.75 crore had been collected by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and the Services Selection Board (JKSSB) since the current administration took office last year.
“The application fee charged by recruiting agencies covers administrative and operational expenses incurred in conducting examinations, including advertisements, processing, manpower, infrastructure, and technology costs,” the Minister said, adding that the rates were in line with those of other government recruitment agencies across India.
However, Peoples Conference President Sajad Gani Lone criticized the government, accusing it of breaking pre-election promises.
He added that the Chief Minister, who also heads the GAD, admitted in the Assembly that Rs31 crore had been collected from job aspirants since October last year.
