iPhones seized from vehicle

JAMMU, Mar 8: In a high-stakes crackdown on tax fraud, State Taxes Enforcement (Central) Jammu team intercepted a vehicle carrying a jaw-dropping consignment of iPhones/ iPads/MacBook Laptops and mobile accessories worth Rs 21 lakh -all without proper GST documentation.
The dramatic seizure took place at Nanak Nagar, Jammu, where officials under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Sonu Pargal, flagged down the suspicious vehicle belonging to a Courier Services Operator. Upon inspection, they uncovered boxes packed with the latest high-end electronic items, completely undocumented and allegedly part of a massive GST evasion racket.
The syndicate behind this tax-evasion operation aimed to flood the market with untaxed high-end smartphones, cheating the Government of lakhs in revenue. Authorities have seized the vehicle and goods, and an intense investigation is now underway to unmask the masterminds behind this tax fraud.
This crackdown is part of the Enforcement Wing’s ongoing efforts to combat tax evasion, raise awareness about GST compliance, and promote transparency. The team remains committed to penalizing violators while educating stakeholders, ensuring the integrity of the tax system, and fostering greater adherence to the GST Act.
The entire operation was conducted under the overall supervision of Commissioner State Taxes, P.K. Bhat and Additional Commissioner Namrita Dogra.
