Rs 170 cr being spent on restoration, revival of heritage monuments

Concerned DCs ask PWD authorities to submit DPRs immediately

JAMMU, Nov 25: For speedy development of heritage monuments in Kashmir valley under the Government’s ambitious Revival, Restoration and Maintenance of Architecture and Heritage Scheme of J&K, the District Development Commissioners of Srinagar and Anantnag have urged the authorities of PWD in their respective districts to submit the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of all identified monuments immediately so that the same is submitted to Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums for release of funds.

As per the letters, the Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums of J&K Government has approved 48 such heritage monuments in Srinagar district and 34 in Anantnag district respectively for revival and restoration on which about Rs 170 crore will be spent. While Rs 76.40 crore will be incurred in restoration of the heritage monuments in Srinagar district, Rs 93.95 crore will be incurred in Anantnag district.
The DC Srinagar in its recent letter has asked PWD to submit the DPRs within seven days, the DC Anantnag has sought the technically vetted DPRs from PWD within five days for onwards submission to concerned Department and release of funds for the projects.
The District Development Commissioners have urged the PWD that DPRs of approved projects should be technically vetted for accord of administrative approval so that funds for the same are released by Directorate of Archives, Archaeology and Museums for starting the restoration work.
Some of the major heritage places/ shrines to be renovated in Srinagar district under the scheme included revival and restoration of Imambada Srinagar at an estimated cost of Rs 6.59 crore, preservation and beautification of Swami Lakshmanjoo Ashram , Gupt Ganga Ishber , Nishat at Rs 5.23 crore, conservation /restoration of historical shrine of Khanqahi Mualla of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani on heritage pattern, Srinagar at Rs 4.98 crore, conservation / restoration of historical Kalai Wall Nagar Nagri, near Makhdoom Sahib, Srinagar, Rs 4.81 crore, restoration of heritage building of Kashapa , Karanagar, Srinagar, at Rs 4.80 crore, restoration/ preservation of Ziyarat Sharief Maqdoom Sahib Srinagar at Rs 4.60 crore, restoration/ renovation of heritage site of Hazrat Moosa Bagdadi at Darbagh Harwan at Rs 3.08 crore.
Besides, Rs 2.84 crore will be incurred on revival and restoration of Vaital Bhairav temple with allied works at Motiyar Rainawari, Srinagar, Rs 2.64 crore on revival and restoration of Imambada Hasanabad Srinagar, Rs 2.00 crore on restoration of heritage building of Vasanta School, Kral Khud, Rs 1.80 crore on restoration and conservation of historical and ancient Gopi Tirath Nishat, Rs 1.76 crore on upgradation, preservation and revival of Shiv temple Karapora , Rainawari, Srinagar, Rs 1.50 crore on upgradation and face lifting of Miya Shah Sahaba shrine at Karapora Rainawari, Srinagar, Rs 1.50 crore on restoration of Ganpatyar heritage School Srinagar, Rs 1.48 crore on restoration/preservation of Assari Shareef Jinab Sahib Aanchar Soura, Rs 1.45 crore on restoration and renovation of ancient shrine of Sharika Devi temple Hari Parbat, Srinagar, Rs 1.43 crore revival and restoration, preservation and maintenance of architecture and heritage for Raghunath Mandir Habba Kadal Srinagar, Rs 1.42 crore on restoration / preservation of Ziyarat Sharief Hazrat Syed Rehman Sahib, Brian Nishat, Rs 1.25 crore on repair of Old Durga Mandir, Bhagawaan Gopinathji Ashram at Kharyar Habbakadal, Rs 1.22 crore on repair and renovation of Sirajud Din Shrine, Dalal Mohalla Srinagar. Besides, these, there are more 27 such shrines in the district for which DPRs have been sought from the PWD by District Development Commissioner Srinagar.
In Anantnag district, the major heritage monuments among the 34 identified heritage places for which DPRs were sought from Superintending Engineer PWD (R&B) Anantnag by District Development Commissioner, Anantnag included Revival and restoration of ancient temple of Uma Devi, Shiv Ji temple, Siddivinayak temple, Yatri Niwas, Yagyashalla at Umanagri, Brari Angan, Anantnag at Rs 8.83 crore, restoration and renovation of Ziyarat Sharief Khiram at an estimated cost of 5.07 crore, revival and restoration of Mata Chandi Devi temple and Yatri Niwas Sagam Kokernag at Rs 1.82 crore, revival of ancient Kutthair Spring by way of conservation at Rs 1.06 crore, revival of Jamia Masjid Shareef Bijbehara at Rs 3.91 crore, renovation and restoration of Gurudwara at Padshai Bagh, Bijbehara at Rs 1.79 crore, repair and renovation of Shiv Mandir (Chota Amarnath), Thajiwara, Bijbehara at RS 5.63 crore, renovation and revival of Ganeshbal temple, Pahalgam at Rs 2,59 crore, revival, restoration and preservation of of Kabamarg Shrine at Rs 4.50 crore, revival and restoration of ancient Barghe Shika Mandir at Mattan, Anantnag at Rs 4.60 crore, revival and restoration of Dharamshalla at Shrine of Swami Mirzakak Ji, Hangalgund, Kokernag at Rs 4,35 crore, revival and restoration of Raghunath Ram Mandir, Nagbal Anantnag, at Rs 2.29 crore, revival and restoration of Dharmashalla, Havankund and renovation of Shiv temple Dharmashalla and allied works at Vessu Anatnag at Rs 4.08 crore.
Besides, Rs 3.90 crore were sanctioned for revival and restoration of Karkutnag temple at village Kreeri Nagbal in Anantnag district, Rs 5.51 crore for revival and restoration of Yatri Niwas at Nalla Soundbrari and beautification of magic spring at Nallah Soundbrari Rs 3.42 crore for revival and restoration of Shiv temple at village Levdoora, Qazigund, Rs 3.07 crore for revival and restoration of Hazrat Syed Sahab Shrine at Beevora, Anantnag, Rs 3.22 crore for revival and restoration of Ganesh temple Prakash Ram Bhat Memorial Mandir at Kawarigam, Qazigund. Besides, there are more one dozen shrines which are being taken up for renovation and development in the district under the scheme.
