RR conducts Divyaang Shivir at Kalal

JAMMU, Feb 10: To reach out to the specially abled citizens of the society, the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Kalal under the aegis of Reasi based Counter Insurgency Uniform Force conducted a Divyaang Shivir at Kalal today.
The Rashtriya Rifles distributed 33 crutches, 20 wheelchairs, five hearing aids and four water beds for the citizens of the region.  The noble efforts by the Army have been widely appreciated by the local populace.  More than 500 men, women, children including veterans and veernaris also availed the medical facilities set up on the occasion including free distribution of medicines and complete health check ups.
The General Officer Commanding, Uniform Force addressing the guests on the occasion appreciated the efforts of the citizens in joining hands with the Army in taking the region towards irreversible peace.  The Army, he said, has been continuously striving towards progressive development of the region apart from its contribution towards youth and women empowerment, rural development programmes through self employment, promoting education of children and various vocational training cadres for the unemployed youth of the region.
The event hosted various stalls for the veterans, veernaris and the citizens resolving pension related grievances through DPDO Rajouri, information kiosks by State Bank of India and Punjab National Bank and dissemination of information on various Government schemes like Jeevan Suraksha Yojna and Jeevan Adhar, cultural programmes including the Gorkha martial dance were the highlight of the event.
The event was grace by officials from the civil administration including the SDM, Nowshera, veterans, veernaris and local populace.
Mr Manzoor Hussain, a resident of village Gandher was particularly overwhelmed by the gesture of the Army as the tricycle provided by the Army will revive his child’s dream of going to the school in spite of the severe contracture limb he suffers from.
