JAMMU, Apr 20: Royal Dogras staged a play “Bali Aur Shambhu” in Saptahik Rangdhara Theatre Festival organized by J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages (JKAACL).
The acclaimed play was staged at Abhinav Theatre by Royal Dogras theatre group, drawing warm applause from spectators and dignitaries. The event was graced by Brij Mohan Sharma, Principal Secretary, Department of Culture, J&K, as the chief guest.
Written by Manav Kaul and directed by Mohitt Mehra, the play sensitively portrays the evolving bond between two elderly men living in an old age home. Initially at odds, Bali (played by Vivek Sangotra) and Shambhu (played by Sandeep Verma) gradually forge a touching friendship that reflects shared loneliness and resilience. The narrative weaves humor with emotional depth, offering a moving theatrical experience.
Supporting performances by Harshita Khajuria as Titli, Ayaan Choudhary as Shubhankar, Seeta as Jhilmil and Bobby Thakur as Gautam added to the play’s emotional impact.
A strong backstage team elevated the production: Mohit Chib served as production manager, Seeta handled costume design, Rajat Kohli crafted the set, Aditya Bharti designed lighting and Aman Sangral composed the background music.
At the event’s conclusion, Brij Mohan Sharma, Harvinder Kour (secretary, JKAACL) and theatre stalwarts Balwant Thakur and Ravi Kemu honoured the cast and crew for their commendable work.
