UDHAMPUR, July 13: A free eye screening camp was organized by KLSM Rotary Eye and ENT Hospital, Udhampur and Rotary Club Udhampur with the support of Kasturi Lal Gupta Sarpanch Latti at Primary Health Centre Latti in district Udhampur today.
It was due to the personal efforts of Kasturi Lal Gupta, Chairman Latti Development Committee this was possible by the hospital to organize such a camp at large scale where a large number of poor and needy patients from entire Latti tehsil, Jakhed and Dudu Sub Division participated.
Gupta accompanied by all the Panches and prominent people of the area welcomed the Rotary Hospital team. Khalid Hussain, retired teacher spoke on the occasion and stressed the need to organize such camps in near future as well. It was first camp organized by Rotary Club Udhampur in Village Latti. It was felt during the camp that there is need to have more such camps in this remote area where ophthalmic services no where exist for prevention of avoidable blindness.
Chairman of “The Udhampur Rotary Eye & General Welfare Foundation” said that his team was committed to organize such camps in the coming future. It was also decided to organize vision screening camps in the school to screen the students suffering with visual impairment.
The Medical team led by Dr Sameru Raina and BL Bhat screen the patients for surgery. In the said camp more than 300 patients were examined and out of which 52 were screened for cataract surgery which will be performed at Rotary Eye Hospital Udhampur on July 17 and 18, 2019.
In the said camp D N Sharma Chairman, S S Kerni Finance Secretary, Sumit Khajuria Sr. Ophthalmic Assistant, Sanjay Kumar Sharma Sr Lab Technician. Nadeem Akhter Ophth. Asstt. Satish Kumar, BMT and Shashi Bhushan driver actively participated for successful completion of the camp. The staff of PHC Latti actively participated in the camp for successful completion of the camp.
