RAMBAN, June 1: One person died on the spot and four others including a couple and their son sustained injuries when a rolling boulder hit the vehicle they were onboard at the mountainous Khari area on Khari-Trana link road here today.
As per Police, the boulder hit a Taxi bearing registration number JK19A-6521 killing the driver on the spot and leaving four others travelling in the vehicle injured.
The injured were rushed to Sub District Hospital Banihal.
The deceased driver was identified as Mohammad Iqbal Khanday, 28, son of Abdul Rasheed Khanday, resident of Mandakbass, tehsil Khari, Ramban.
Authorities at SDH Banihal informed that after providing medical aid, all the three injured were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital Anantnag for specialized treatment.
The injured were identified as Bahar Ahmed Malik, 28, his wife Mansoora Begum, 26 and their 10 months old son Mohd Saad, all residents of Trana, Khari district Ramban.
Another injured was identified as Abdul Rehman Lone, 68, son of Abdul Sattar Lone, resident of Trana, Khari and he was discharged after providing medical aid at PHC Khari.
SSP Ramban, Kulbir Singh informed that Police has registered a case in this regard and started investigation.
