JAMMU, Nov 25: Former Minister J&K and senior Congress leader Yogesh Sawhney, convened a meeting today in Sandhi area of Jammu East, to address critical developmental challenges in the constituency.
The meeting saw the active participation of ex-Sarpanch Deen Mohd, Haider Hussain and other senior leaders, including Kaku Din, Khair Din, Manzoor Hussain, and Haji Sadeeq Mohd. The session focused on identifying pressing issues that deeply affect the quality of life for local residents.
Speaking at the meeting, Sawhney said that one of the major issues highlighted by local people was of road connectivity, a long-standing demand of the region. The attendees also highlighted the urgent need for better roads linking Kamante to Kanayi Khaiter, Sandhi to Bus Adda, and Dagair to Pandar Mohalla. These routes are vital for improving access to essential services and facilitating economic activity. The lack of proper connectivity has been a major hurdle for the residents, and a collective appeal was made for immediate intervention.
He further added that Education was another key area of concern. Participants stressed the importance of upgrading local educational facilities, including schools and learning infrastructure, to ensure that children in the area have access to quality education. Their concerns regarding the availability of teachers and resources were neglected by the authorities and no step was being taken in this direction.
Sawhney threw light on the deteriorating state of road services and maintenance in the area. He said poor road conditions have not only hindered daily commuting but have also affected trade and emergency services. He stressed these issues need to be addressed at the earliest, as people have a long history of suffering at the behest of these issues in this area.
The meeting concluded with a strong resolve to work jointly toward the growth and progress of Sandhi and its adjoining areas.
