JAMMU, Apr 8: Noted Dogri writer Ritu Singh has been selected for the prestigious Prof Ram Nath Shastri Memorial Award 2026 for her acclaimed collection “Dogri Mukrian.” The award, instituted in memory of eminent Dogri scholar Prof Ram Nath Shastri, is regarded as one of the most respected honours in Dogri literature.
The award will be presented on April 14 and carries a cash prize of Rs 21,000, along with a shawl and a memento. The collection “Dogri Mukrian” has got recognition for reviving the traditional mukrian form with contemporary relevance, reflecting the cultural richness and expressive strength of the Dogri language.
Eminent literary scholar Prof Lalit Magotra, former president of the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, described the award as a highly prestigious honour that encourages writers to preserve traditional literary forms and enrich regional languages.
